Homily about love

When the Pharisees tried to tempt the Lord they asked him what is the greatest commandment. He said loud and clear: God’s commandments are Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind and Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (Mt.22:36-39; Lk. 10:26,27) Furthermore He said: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake (regarding God) shall find it (save). (Mt.16:25,26).

I think that these words are very clear on their own and do not need to be explained at all. However, because we don’t fulfil these words, we need to remind ourselves about it. We are all to blame. Firstly I, who preaches, yet accomplish nothing. Secondly you, who receive the word but do not understand or you are not willing to understand.

God wants to tell us about the essence of this life, that this world is fallen in sin. The world is vicious and sinful. In order to save ourselves we need personal and general repentance for all of humanity. We need to die to the whims of the world. We need to crucify our passions, our sinful will, wishes and feelings, if we want to get born again, for eternal life, which is given to us by God. But it’s given only to those who will accept it and fulfil His commandments.

Some people will say that to fulfil God’s commandment of love is difficult. If we entertain this falsehood, we believe in lies. Our Lord Jesus Christ said that On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets, and actually they are one commandment. When we say that love is too hard, we call God a liar. So, if the love is hard, than I don’t know what to say and I am speechless!

That is why we should repent and perceive our sins, brothers and sisters, not someone else’s but our own, in order to save our souls. As God says, For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Even if we become patriarchs, presidents or anything of stature, if it harms our soul, it is all in vain and useless. We are commanded to love God with all our heart, with all of our soul and with our entire mind and we shalt love our neighbour as ourselves. What we do not have is the love, because if we truly loved there would be no need for repentance. We would live for one another; our lives would be like Christ’s life. We would overflow with the abundance of life inside of us.

But God always reminding us of our sins and providing us with opportunities to begin a new life. As the Holy Fathers tell us, every day is new beginning.

Koga fariseite, sakaj}i da go isku{aat Gospoda, Go pra{ale koja e najgolemata zapoved, Toj jasno i glasno odgovoril: zapovedta Bo`ja vozqubi Go Gospoda, svojot Bog, so seto svoe srce, so seta svoja du{a, so siov svoj razum i so seta svoja sila i vozqubi go svojot bli`en kako samiot sebe si.( Mt. 22:36-39; Lk. 10:26,27) Ponatamu veli: koj saka da si go spasi `ivotot svoj }e go zagubi; a koj go zagubi svojot `ivot zaradi Mene, odnosno za Boga - }e go najde ( spasi). (Mt.16:25,26)

Mislam deka ovie zborovi sami po sebe se dosta jasni i ne mora voop{to da se tolkuvaat. No, od faktite deka nie ne postapuvame taka, i ne gi ispolnuvame, potrebno e da se potsetuvame. Najprvo, za samiot sebe, koj zboruvam, a ni{to ne ispolnuvam, a potoa za vas koi slu{ate i ne razbirate, ili ne sakate da razberete.

Gospod saka da ni ja ka`e su{tinata na ovoj `ivot. Toj saka da ni ka`e deka ovoj svet e padnat vo grev, bluden e i gre{en. Za da se spasime e potrebno li~no i op{to pokajanie na ~ove{tvoto. Da umreme za svetot i samite sebe, a toa umirawe e umirawe za strastite i svojata gre{na volja, `elbi i ~ustva, za da se rodime za `ivot ve~en, koj Gospod ni go dava nam, na onie koi }e go prifatat slovoto Bo`jo, i }e gi ispolnat Negovite zapovedi.

Nekoj }e re~e deka Bo`jite zapovedi se te{ki. Pa gledate li deka samite sebe se la`eme i Gospod go pravime la`ec, koga velime taka. Zatoa {to, kako {to Gospod veli, site Bo`ji zapovedi, zakonot i prorocite se sodr`ani vo ovie dve zapovedi {to se edna zapoved, a toa e qubovta. Zna~i, ako qubovta e te{ka, toga{ ne znam {to ponatamu da ka`am i ostanuvam bez zborovi?!?

Zatoa, bra}a i sestri, da se pokaeme i da si gi vidime svoite grevovi, ne tu|ite, tuku svoite, za da si gi spasime du{ite. Kako {to veli Gospod, ako go pridobieme i celiot svet i da staneme patrijarsi, pretsedateli, i bilo {to da e od ovoj svet, seto }e ni bide badijala ako na svojtata du{a i napakostime, odnosno ako ne go vozqubime Gospoda so seto svoe srce, so siot svoj um i razum i so seta svoja sila, i svojot bli`en kako samite sebe. Ona {to go nemame e qubovta, za{to ako ja imavme nema{e svetot da bide vo ovaa sostojba vo koja {to e denes, i nema{e da ima potreba od pokajanie, tuku }e se qubevme eden so drug, }e `iveevme eden za drug, }e go `iveevme `ivotot Hristov i }e imavme `ivot vo sebe, i toa vo izobilie.

No, Gospod sekoga{ ne potsetuva za na{ite grevovi i sekoga{ ni dava nova mo`nost za nov `ivot, i kako {to Svetite Otci velat: sekoj den e nov po~etok.
